Products Every Natural Person Should Have

Going natural with your hair isn’t always the easiest thing to do, especially if you have had your
hair chemically altered for years. You may not be accustomed with the appearance of your
kinky-coily curls and may even feel insecure about wearing them out.

Unfortunately, this is a common sentiment that many people face when first attempting to rock
their natural curls. This comes from living in a society that primarily uplifts eurocentric
appearance aspects from hair to facial features and more.

Beating this insecurity isn’t easy and it can take people months or even years to feel comfortable
stepping outside with their natural locs. However, what can make the whole ordeal easier is by
making sure you have the right products in your tuck so that your hair is constantly thriving.
Now, this does not mean you have to buy tons of curling products because how your hair curls
should not play a role in determining how beautiful it is. Whether you have 3A or 4C hair is
irrelevant, simply embrace the hair you were born with and nurture it with the right products.
Don’t let the definition or the length of your hair prevent you from gracing the outside air with

Here is a list of standard products every natural-haired person should have in their cabinet.

  • Co Wash Shampoo. This is essential to have so that you can use this specific type of
shampoo during your wash days. It won’t strip your hair of its hydration, like using a
standard shampoo regularly would. It helps remove build up and dirt in your hair as well.
  • Cleansing Shampoo. A cleansing shampoo is great especially for people with low
porosity hair as it removes product build up. A cleansing shampoo is great to use before
you use any other shampoo on your wash day. This is a subtle reminder that you should
be washing your hair twice with shampoo on your wash day.
  • Conditioner. Naturally, conditioner is essential in your hair routine. It prevents damage
to your hair and restores its natural shine. Always make sure you wash out your
conditioner after leaving it in for a few minutes.
  • Leave-In Conditioner. Leave-in conditioner is a true blessing to any natural’s hair
routine. It can be used everyday in small amounts. It helps you detangle your hair and
    provides extra moisture as well.
  • Oil. Whether it is morrocan oil, coconut oil or argan oil, you need some type of hair oil in
your routine. The type of oil you should consider depends upon your hair porosity type.
For low porosity hair, argan oil is your best bet as it is not as heavy as coconut oil or
castor oil which is better for high porosity hair.
  • Styling product. If you enjoy adding some definition to your hair then a styling product
should be added to your routine. Styling products can help combat frizz and give a little
more definition to your curls, twist-outs and more.
